I had a chat wit Brad Baloo from The Nextmen a few days ago, ahead of his Sydney performance.

Keeping things all House and Disco for this episode, with a heap of classic material that is bound to have you jumping around. It's not all oldschool joints though - There's a stack of new releases sprinkled throughout featuring a brand new Soul Clap track remixed by Hot Toddy, a killer club joint from Mason on the Sweat It Out label, and we get techy with Stefan Braatz and Teddy Douglas.

Catching up on some recent new releases - Featuring the undisputed queen of modern soul Mary J Blige, which melds perfectly into a track off the new Grand Puba album. It's great to see those two talents back to back again. Some killer dancehall styles coming out strong from Squeeze Tarlea (possible contender for my song of the week), and The Nextmen (Another contentder for song of the week) . Nineties underground rapper Prince Powerule makes a welcome return after so many years - and shows that classic Hip Hop is not dead.

Some real exciting new releases graced the turntables this week. Firstly, a tantalizingly soulful collaboration between rising star Thundercat and Michael McDonald and Kenny Loggins that definitely has me excited for the forthcoming album - as does the brand new release from R&B songstress Faith Evans who gives us a taste of her upcoming new album featuring Notorious BIG and Snoop Dog.

Back again for the first podcast of the new year, and do I have some serious joints for you! Kicking things off with a a tasty new release from my favourite 45s label Dusty Donuts, where Naughty NMX slices up some EPMD and Bob Marley. A quick trip through some classic late eighties Hip Hop joints, and a detour into some seriously funky seventies grooves before I turn up the notch and drop soome bangin' recent club releases - Including new joints from Run The Jewels, Husky from Random Soul, and devastating new one from Metroplane.

In a year that was all about headlines (and most of them kind of crappy) at least the music was pretty good.

This is not just an R&B mix.. Teddy Riley has a long history with underground Hip Hop. This mix covers his earliest career right up to the early 2000s.
